Shah Rukh Khan sang Darlings’ ‘La Ilaaj’ to Vishal Bhardwaj at midnight on phone, read on! | People News

New Delhi: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan may not be a perfect singer, but he definitely knows how to sing the lyrics to songs to win hearts, and composer Vishal Bhardwaj was extremely impressed when he heard the actor sing his latest composition ‘La Ilaaj’.

At the launch of ‘La Ilaaj’ by Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Darlings’ in Delhi, Bhardwaj shared how the film’s co-producer, Shah Rukh, reacted to the song when he first heard it.

“It was late at night and suddenly I got a call from Shah Rukh. I took his call and instead of saying hello he started singing ‘La Ilaaj’. He even told the meaning of the lyrics. He then said : ‘agar ye song mere liye hota toh aur maza aata’. I felt very special then. It was so nice of him,” recalls Bhardwaj.

Sung by Arijit Singh, ‘La Ilaaj’ from the Netflix movie basically translates to incurable. The lyrics of the soulful song are written by none other than Gulzar.

‘La Ilaaj’ proves that when musical geniuses like Bhardwaj and Gulzar come together, the result is nothing short of spectacular.

Bhardwaj has a long-standing partnership with Gulzar. Be it `Chhodh Aaye Hum` by `Maachis`, `Naina Thag Lenge` by `Omkara` or `Pehli Baar Mohabbat` by Shahid-starrer Kaminey, `Kul Kabhi` by `Haider`, the combination of Gulzar and Vishal has given several evergreen and meaningful numbers over the years. Now we have to wait and see how the public reacts to their recently released collaboration.
