Shamshera director breaks silence after film’s failure

Bombay (Maharashtra) [India]July 28 (ANI): As Ranbir Kapoor bombed starrer ‘Shamshera’ at the box office, director Karan Malhotra wrote a lengthy note on Instagram saying he “couldn’t handle the hatred and anger” that came his way in the latest few days.

“My dear Shamshera, you are majestic as you are. It is important for me to express myself on this platform because here is where all the love, the hate, the celebration and the humiliation exists for you. I want to apologize unimaginably offering to you because I have let you down for the past few days because I couldn’t handle the hatred and anger,” Karan wrote.

“My withdrawal was my weakness and there are no excuses for it. But now I stand here, hand in hand beside you and feel proud and honored that you are mine. I will face everything together, the good, the bad and the ugly. And a huge shout out to the Shamshera family, the cast and crew of Shamshera. The love, blessings and care that has fallen upon us are the most precious and no one can take that from us.#Shamsheraismine #Shamshera, he concluded.
On Tuesday, the film reportedly added just Rs2.50 crore to its total collection, which now stands at Rs36 crore.
Released on July 22, ‘Shamshera’ is supported by Yash Raj Films and directed by Karan Malhotra of ‘Agneepath’ fame.
The film from that period shows Ranbir in a dual role for the first time in his career and was widely anticipated as it is Ranbir’s first release since Sanju in 2018. The film is said to have been made on a massive budget of around 150 crores.
Besides Ranbir, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor are also part of ‘Shamshera’. (ANI)
