Suzuki: Notice regarding adoption by NEDO project

Yamanashi Hydrogen Company, Inc. and Suzuki Motor Corporation announced that the project titled “Study on Conformity with Demonstration Requirements for Hydrogen Technology to Achieve Efficient Thermal Operation in Indian Factories (Haryana, India)” has been proposed and approved as a feasibility study for “FY2022 International Demonstration Project on Japan’s Energy Efficiency Technologies (Surveys of the Suitability of Demonstration Requirements)”, a public invitation from Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)

Yamanashi Hydrogen Company, Inc. (Headquarters: Kofu, Yamanashi, Representative Director and Chairman: Hiroki Nakazawa, hereinafter YHC) and Suzuki Motor Corporation (Headquarters: Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Representative Director and Chairman: Toshihiro Suzuki, hereinafter Suzuki) announced that the project entitled “Study on Conformity with Demonstration Requirements for Hydrogen Technology to Achieve Efficient Thermal Operation in Indian Factories (Haryana, India)” has been proposed and approved as a feasibility study for “FY2022 International Demonstration Project on Japan’s Energy Efficiency Technologies (Surveys of the Suitability of Demonstration Requirements)”, a public invitation from Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

The aim of the project is to explore the feasibility of structuring an optimal thermal operating system in the factories by producing hydrogen with Power-to-Gas (P2G) system by using excess electricity in India where the introduction of renewable energy is promoted. The project, which will run until March 2023, will explore opportunities in India, as well as study the volume of hydrogen demand and costs at Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s Manesar plant*.

To achieve carbon neutrality, YHC and Suzuki will jointly tackle the project for achieving an optimal energy conversion process in the overseas fossil fuel-consuming factories, with Japan’s excellent water electrolysis technology in a place with different meteorological environment.
