With just a week to go until the end of June, Ousmane Dembele’s future still remains unresolved, despite a host of speculation in recent months.
Dembélé is currently on holiday in the United States and has yet to reach an agreement with Barcelona, who have submitted their final extension offer.
A recent report from COPE suggests Barça has urged Dembele to reconsider its stance and accept the club’s current terms. The Catalans have further informed the winger that this will be the club’s last offer.
Barcelona are not expected to make an improved offer if Dembélé continues to reject the terms as the Blaugrana trying to move forward and ramp up their efforts to sign a replacement.
Xavi Hernandez has expressed his wish to keep Dembélé as he highly values the Frenchman. The Barcelona coach has personally asked the winger to make a sacrifice to stay at the Camp Nou.
However, the gap between what the Dembele camp is looking for and what Barcelona is willing to offer remains wide. There is no possibility of the player agreeing to the terms currently being offered, especially knowing that he can get much more lucrative terms elsewhere.
That’s where Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain come into play, as the two clubs have shown a desire to capture the former Dortmund star for the new season.
The appointment of Luis Campos as sporting director may see PSG abandon their pursuit, but a move to Chelsea remains a possibility for Dembele, with Thomas Tuchel reportedly keen to see a reunion.
However, the two sides have yet to reach an agreement, so Dembele is still looking at an uncertain future. The whole situation will become clear after a week when the winger’s current contract at Camp Nou officially expires.
