‘Trade him for Ishan’: Jadeja sparks huge debate between MI, CSK fans | Cricket

Ravindra Jadeja was named captain of Chennai Super Kings after MS Dhoni quit his job just two days before the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). But the all-rounder leveled off under pressure and eventually gave up the role, eventually sparking rumors of a rift between him and the four-time champion. Under Jadeja, the franchise lost six out of eight games. His own performances seemed mediocre as he led the T20 side. The Saurashtra all-rounder managed just 116 runs averaging 20 in 10 games and just five wickets against an economy of 7.51.

Days after relinquishing his captaincy, he was also banned from the extended 10-team competition with a rib injury. The reason behind his departure was a cited injury, but many believed the fiery all-rounder had been dropped from the Chennai elf.

Jadeja’s future with the Dhoni-led side has been a hot topic since he finished a mediocre tournament this year. The 33-year-old’s recent social media activity has fueled his departure rumours, with many thinking he would represent a new team next season. He deleted all CSK-related posts from the 2021 and 2022 seasons on his official Instagram profile. And earlier this week, Jadeja deleted a tweet from his Twitter profile.

The tweet was dated February 4, 2022 and was in response to a message from the franchise. The original message read: “10 years of Super Jaddu.” In response, Jadeja had written, “10 more to go.”

Fans of Mumbai Indians, led by Rohit Sharma, also flooded Twitter asking for a trade move. Many believe the seasoned player would fit well in the MI XI and asked the franchise to trade Ishan Kishan for him.

“Even I would like the same but I don’t think it’s possible because we already have Sanjay, Shokeen and Jadeja is going for 10Cr+ which MI won’t issue. Only option – MI trades Ishan for Jadeja,” wrote one fan.

“Jadeja for Ishan is not a bad choice…so I can play Brevis, Stubbs and Tim David without compromising their bowling!” another user tweeted.

Here’s how Twitter responded to Jadeja’s latest social media activity:

Jadeja was reminded of his captaincy when he returned to the Indian team with the Edgbaston test. When asked if Jadeja was more determined to come back so strong after what happened in CSK, the all-rounder replied: “Absolutely not.”

“What happened, happened. I didn’t think about IPL. When you play for India you have to put your whole focus on the Indian team. It was the same for me, there is no better satisfaction than performing well for India.”
