Varisu first look: Vijay is ‘The Boss’ in Vamshi Paidipally film

The first poster of Tamil actor Vijay’s upcoming film was released on the eve of his 48th birthday. The film, tentatively called Thalapathy 66, has been given the title Varisu, which means heir. The tagline under the title reads: ‘The Boss Returns’.

The poster shows Vijay in a regal pose. The actor looks sharp in an expensive suit. Everything about its appearance screams generations of wealth and modern royalty.

Varisu is written and directed by Vamshi Paidipally. Judging by the poster, we can assume that Vijay is playing the role of an NRA returning to his homeland. The director’s last film was Maharshi, starring Mahesh Babu. The film, about a very ambitious businessman who develops a conscience and spends his life in the service of his homeland, was released in 2019 and became a hit at the box office. If Vamshi could deliver a hit for Mahesh, he could very well score a bigger hit with Vijay.

Varisu is shot dead in Tamil in Hyderabad. However, it is also safe to assume that the film will also have a Telugu version as the majority of the cast and crew involved in the project originally belonged to the Telugu film industry.

Varisu also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Shaam, Yogi Babu, Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj and Jayasudha. The film is expected to hit theaters next year during the Sankranti/Pongal festival.
