Visakhapatnam: increase dengue, malaria and COVID-19 testing, Collector tells officials

District collector A. Mallikarjuna has instructed officials of the Ministry of Health to take measures to control cases of dengue, malaria and COVID-19. He has also asked them to increase testing immediately. Here he took part in an evaluation meeting on seasonal diseases and COVID-19.

Mr Mallikarjuna has asked health officials to conduct at least 100 dengue tests per day. He has sanctioned ₹10 lakh and asked them to buy dengue test kits. The Collector inquired about the treatment facilities for dengue patients in the King George Hospital (KGH) and about the operation of platelet separators in the hospital. He has also instructed the Chief Medical Officer of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), KSLG Sastry, to carry out spraying and misting operations in all places and also raise awareness among the people to clean buildings on dry days.

He has also asked officials to conduct regular COVID-19 testing and release the reports at the earliest. He also inquired about the availability of beds, infrastructure, oxygen bottles and medicines.
