Team India captain Rishabh Pant lost his fifth consecutive toss in the T20I series against South Africa in the decisive game in Bengaluru. South Africa, led by captain Keshav Maharaj, chose to bowl after winning the toss at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The series is currently at 2-2 with Team India making a strong comeback in the series after losing the first two games in Delhi and Cuttack.
The side recorded a 48-run victory against the visitors in Vizag before putting in an all-conquering performance in the final T20I in Rajkot, with an 82-run victory.
However, the throwing is the only thing that has averted new captain Rishabh Pant. When he lost the toss again, he had a priceless response:
India has gone with an unchanged XI in the fifth T20I of the series; the side made no changes in all five games of the series. However, South Africa faced a setback in the game when their skipper Temba Bavuma was eliminated due to a wrist injury sustained in the previous game. In his absence, Keshav Maharaj is in charge.
Eyes will also be on hitting Rishabh Pant as the Indian skipper has failed to impress in the four matches so far. Pant has scored just 57 runs in the series so far and will aim to make the last chance count as India looks to take a first win in the T20I series against the Proteas on their own to secure the soil.
After the series against South Africa, the Indian T20I team travels to Ireland for two T20Is against the side. While Pant will be with the Indian test team for the fifth game of last year’s series against England, all-rounder Hardik Pandya will lead the squad in his absence.
