WhatsApp may let you keep disappearing messages even after they are dead

San Francisco: Meta-busy messaging platform WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow users to keep disappearing messages even after they expire.

According to the WABetaInfo report, the disappearing messages can be viewed in chat info in a new section called “Saved Messages”, and all people in the conversation can access this section.

When disappearing messages are enabled in a particular chat, they cannot be starred, but can only be saved.

The report mentioned that this feature is still in development, but WhatsApp is now working on introducing the feature by presenting some information about an upgrade of disappearing messages in a future update of the WhatsApp Desktop beta.

Additionally, WhatsApp will let group admins restrict this feature, so there will likely be a new privacy setting that allows group admins to change the ability to keep a disappearing message.

This feature is in development, so it’s unclear when it will be released to beta testers.

WhatsApp is also working on allowing users to quietly leave groups without notifying other group members except admins. But all group members can still see who is leaving the group using a feature called ‘past participants’.
